pretty pretty blanket

3 balls completed/10 balls to go.
the colorway is a gold green with a darker brown green mixed in with a small amount of light blue.
what i can say is that is is fairly slow knitting- the mohair likes to tangle and because of the uneven nature of the fibers the stitches come out uneven.
but this is a blanket, and i cant wait to finish it!

good mail day

what fun things i received in the mail today. i received my long awaited rowan membership free gift which (for the first time) this year is 'dolly bag' in your choice of color.

the project comes with 2 balls of rowan handknit cotton in my color choice black.

the instructions are in japanese however the book comes with full size patterns.

this is my first project from this book.

i bought the fabric from the clearance table for only 50 cents. i have started to embellish the top with a little bit of beading and sequins.

retreat

retreat will be my new project. it is a simple throw blanket. the pattern calls for jo sharp rare comfort kid mohair hand knitting yarn x 25g balls x 13



however i chose infusion kid mohair. the color i chose is
613 camomile
the blanket should knit to around 40in x 60in

harvey is complete!

whew ufo finished just in time for qm2. my mother and father in law are coming for their first visit to san antonio and our new home. they will of course, travel by ship and take the train on the mainland.
the broach is for a bit of fun along her way.

i am working on gifts for the little people in my life. i can’t decide which style to go with and need some opinions. teddy #1 could be a bit goth? teddy #2 was stitched together with a machine while teddy #3 was finished off with a blanket stitch (like teddy #1) by hand with the exception being the stitching was done in the body color.

......these little guys need your help...

home, home on the range

spent last weekend with my buddy on her farm in houston.
what a great time. there is even a panera near her- which, of course, we had to eat lunch there. this is us enjoying some music and drinks at a bar that really has to be remembered for it's huge beer bottle chandelier.

wine & craft update

the beautiful product of a fun day @ sparks back in april in boston. i had forgotten just how wonderful leigh's piece came out so i have to share.....

near the clasp she added tiny silver beads which are hard to see but very classy. it seems leigh works better under the influence than i do!

colour revolt opened for nightmare of you who opened for brand new. noy were just fab. i hear they recorded a cover of the flaming lips song "waitin' for a superman"- must look this up.

our pond is turning out to look a little more like the video game "frogger". it seems all of the sudden we have lots of floating perches for the variety of noisy frogs who inhabit our pond.

on the brighter side we have our first flower with 2 more to come!

went to see eric hisaw a dear old buddy of mine from our home town of las cruces, nm. he and ms chrissy put on such a wonderful show. they were promoting his new album "the crosses". buy it- it is good.

this is my second but not last project with this yarn.

we have these little light shy guys who hang out on the upper bricks of the outside of our house. we have two youngsters who were out for cinco de mayo.


our other young friends left their nest this past week. they are difficult to see~ but these three red cardinals were loud.. texas loud.

after talking to our neighbors we learned our fish in the pond have been a source of food for the cranes in the area. cranes? we also got a close up with one of our resident frogs- big guy.

notes: ended up making this pattern a little more petite. the idea was to decrease the arm hole to suit wearing it alone in the san antonio sun. what i learned is that by reducing the hole for the arms i inadvertently decreased the opening for the neck.

still i am able to wear it...

we are in our new home. lots going on the past few days... we had our fridge delivered, discovered a snake problem in the back yard, broke our dishwashing machine,
cleaned out our fish pond and the high light has been the purchase of our grill "CB"...

spent yesterday finishing pa and on into ohio and kentucky. today has been pretty uneventful. we ran into the storm that was headed eastward- light thunderstorms but for the most part rain, rain and more rain. on the radio we heard about the 4in softball size hail hitting the area just north of where we are moving in texas.

the boys are always fast asleep. pepper is a pro at long distance travel. i am starting a new knit sweater for baby connor who has already grown out of everything i have made him this far.
listening to redsox on the radio. sox are beating tampa bay 8-1.. driving late into the night and deeper into pa listening to the game.

up and motoring in the morning and more and more of pa....

how big is this state? at least we took the time to relax on what is the worlds most comfortable swing...
